The Investment Committee of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) of The United Methodist Church manages the Africa University Endowment Fund as part of its pool of investments. The committee has primary responsibility for oversight and decision-making regarding the endowment, in consultation with the Africa University Board of Directors.
The GBHEM Investment Committee sets the percentage of earned income that may be disbursed from the various funds in the investment pool, including the Africa University Endowment Fund. That percentage is reviewed and adjusted periodically. It is based on average earnings for the past three years and is well within established practice for ensuring growth of the endowment.
