Why invest now?

Africa’s development prospects remain bright, despite lower than projected economic growth rates in 2016-2017. Ethiopia, the fastest-growing economy in the world in 2017, is forecast to grow by 8.3 percent. Economic growth is relatively high in sub-Saharan Africa, and is projected to average 4.1 percent this year. With a large proportion of its people between the ages of 15 and 24, Africa is the world’s youngest continent population-wise. Growth is improving living standards, albeit slowly, and putting Africa on the cusp of sustainable, new development.

Appropriate investments in education are crucial to helping African nations to exploit this “tipping point”. Your gift to the endowment or capital projects enables Africa University to be an extraordinary catalyst for positive change in sub-Saharan Africa. It helps the university enroll more students, fund teaching, research and business incubation initiatives, and put in place infrastructure to serve current and future generations.
